Community Involvement
The Women’s Club participates in the following community events each year:
CHILDREN IN NEED
Chairperson: Pam Sherman
The Women’s Club added a new service project: volunteering at Children in Need (CIN), a local organization which supplies essentials to local children, free of charge. You are encouraged to come for as much time as you can between those hours. Tasks will be primarily sorting donated clothing. This will be a monthly opportunity, generally the 3rd Tuesday each month.
FOOD BANK
Chairpersons: April Zentmeyer & Connie Lenhart
Fifth Monday, Thursday & Friday of each month 12:45pm – 3 pm. We give back to our community by working with friends to meet the needs of others. St. Mark’s Food Bank is a non-profit, open Monday thru Friday, 1-3 pm for food distribution. Volunteers check in clients and fill their orders. It’s fun, rewarding and important. The Food Bank is on the lower level of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on the point of 601 Washington Avenue and West Washington Street.
SALVATION ARMY RINGING OF THE BELL
Chairperson: Mary Anne Kamas
The “Ringing of the Bell” for the Salvation Army is a Women’s Club tradition. Our collection point is at Dutch Market in the Long Meadow Shopping Center. Donation checks, payable to the Salvation Army, may be sent to The Women’s Club or deposited in our kettle on Thursday, December 8th, 2022.
REACH of WASHINGTON COUNTY WINTER DRIVE

The Cold Weather Shelter provides temporary shelter for homeless adults age 18 and over. Each fall we donate winter supplies of paper products, cleaning supplies, personal items, and laundry pods to support REACH.
RED CROSS CHRISTMAS GIFT WRAPPING

‘Tis the season to be jolly! We wrap presents for the Red Cross Caring Hands Project, a long-standing fun, fun, fun Women’s Club project. Dates and times will be announced in the November newsletter.
CASA – WOMEN’S CLUB SPRING SERVICE DRIVE

Getting a new cell phone? Please consider donating your old one to CASA. (Citizens Assisting and Sheltering the Abused). Give it to Linda in the Women’s Club office. It will be wiped clean.
Additionally, we will conduct a spring drive April 8-11, 2023 to create blessing bags for CASA shelter clients. Needed are: personal care items, toiletries, snacks – anything that can fit into a gallon bag that will help with a transition.
FESTIVAL OF TREES (CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS) AT SPRINGFIELD BARN

Deck the Halls! We decorate a tree at the Barn at Springfield Farm in Williamsport. We will be designing and making Chritmas Ornaments and decorating the tree.
